Fading Memmories......

visit

21-may-2008

It’s a beginning of a new world for me. A world without my college. My college days had all that it can offer. As I look back I can see some glitz, cheers, riots. And in the midst a girl coming smiling towards me, who changed almost all of us.Bhavika Ramanathan, our Bhavu.Where was it that I first met her,may be in the meetings of 'Bamboos’, in libraries, in the meetings of ‘Teens Club’, or just may be in the Fresher’s day. But since then my life wasn’t the same.
I was sort of a normal IT student, who was carrying my own wishes in a narrow world of mine. But Bhavu, she completely changed me. I considered as a dumb. She proved me wrong.
She was this cutest butterfly, which you can see flying everywhere in the campus. You are in the middle of a boring session and wanna take a break and go freak out, you could see the girl complaining officials about not taking care of the garden. Or if you wanna spend some time in the library halls, (which is not a bad habit! Err) Bhavu may be there with fashion magazines, by hearting the latest fashion mantras! Or even, you may be on one of those ‘PANCHARA PARA’ flittering with some girls, she would be there capturing the beauty of the countryside.
Sometimes you might see this lady dancing, singing, laughing or even you could find her giving new topics in the social networking sites to discuss. For Bhavu a day means a lot long. Still the girl prays “why only 24 hours make it a little lengthier”. And you can’t complain her. Can you?
Bhavika to me was a greatest fashion guru. She taught me the latest fashion mantras. The patches and threads she made were so excellent that it produced the best out of me. The trendy tops she worn were may only be featured in the latest ‘Cosmopolitan’ magazine before. She could easily adapt the trendiest. From gadgets to wardrobes the lady knew it all.
The ‘Bamboos’ section was the highlight of each of my college days. We sat underneath a group of bamboo trees with a cup hot coffee every evening chatting, discussing …And there you would see her shouting, arguing, or even shedding teas. A small woman assault could shake Bhavu to certain extend. And we may wonder how weak her heart is. But soon we might see her arguing explosively about the current system. This country has to be changed she always utters. The lady was enlightening a silent war within herself.
During one of days, her father came to our campus and the lady was nowhere to be seen. I talked with him. Throughout our chat he was very concerned about her health. In the end he told us the truth, which entirely smacked us. Bhavu is a patient, a cancer patient and her days are counted. He carried some tablets and handed it over to us. Those can only resist her days for some long. But she still is in danger.
During the ‘Bamboos’ time Bhavu came and we were very disgraced. We handed the medicines to her. She was very sad about us treating her as a patient. She then sang loudly a poem:
“The woods are lovely dark and deep.
But I have promises to keep.
And miles to go before I sleep.
And miles to go before I sleep.”
The girl was becoming weaker and weaker day but the spirit never let her fell down .She was seen sitting alone with her ‘Kitty’, her guitar and began playing to be free.
But destiny played against her and her hair begins to fall. She needed an immediate surgery and was hospitalized. She was eager to see us and was found very energetic talking to us. But Bhavu couldn’t overcome the surgery. Even death can’t let her down because she said sometimes back,”One night I woke up and looked across the sky and was found shining among the stars”.
Her body was taken to the college. And messages and cards poured from all over India. LMC was full of roses, as she wished! Bhavu is no more. But the struggles and the spirit never died. It may empower the generations of  LOURDES MATHA COLLEGE
What is that one quality that mostly attracted me towards Bhavu? Her smile, that emotions…I don’t think a 23yr old can be such matured. LMC had hosted us for almost 4 yrs and now its time to leave. But these memories won’t die easily...
